In October 2016 Dolphin hosted a South African Touring side Blue Crane. They were not a club/school but a representatives of six schools across the country, the majority from Grey College & Paul Roos Gymnasium. They were a fine side, however, the Dolphin team that played them on the night put in an excellent performance and were still in the game until the South Africans scored a couple of tries in the last few minutes. When they toured again the following year it was the Munster U16’s they played.

Three years on, two of the Top South African schools sides met, four of the players who played v Dolphin were in action, a further two were unavailable as they were away with the South African schools side

The clip below shows an excellent bit of covering and a try worth watching over and over – the crowd was significantly bigger than a wet Wednesday night on the back pitch in Musgrave Park.
