Dolphin got off their AIL 2C campaign off to a positive start in Bruff on Saturday.

Our away record has not been good, only four of the previous 22 away games were in Munster.

They were faced to make a late change as centre Sam Boyle was injured in the warm up and replaced by Scott Sexton.

Both teams had early attacks, but a good line taken by captain Craig O’Connell saw him opening the score with an unconverted try. Bruff once again went on the attack and a Dolphin infringement led to a yellow card and a series of 5 metre scrums which were well defended by Dolphin.

A kick through by Cam O’Shaughnessy was followed well by full back Jordan Soli who increased the lead to 10-0 but was not able to add the conversion, Dolphin going into the break 10-0.

Bruff took an early opportunity to open their account with a penalty and this was followed by the try of the game. A great run by Jordan Soli saw him touching down under the posts and increasing the lead to 17-3. Bruff fault back strongly to narrow the gap to 17-8.

Dolphin opted for the posts when they earned a kickable penalty, Soli making it 20-8.

Further pressure led Dolphin to infringe in the 22 and a YC was shown, this was followed by a penalty try and Dolphin were down to 13 with 3 minutes left and a 5 point lead.

Bruff advanced into the Dolphin 22 once again, but a Dolphin player ripped the ball from a home player and the ball was thrown back and scrum half Ryan Foley happily kicked the back out over his dead ball line.

Next Saturday we are at home to Omagh.
