There must have been plenty of nerves in the Dolphin side before this must win game to have any chance of remaining in Division 2B. Maybe they were lifted by the large crowd assembled to clap them them on to the field, as the forwards drove over for a try in the opening 3 minutes, credited to the man at the back, hooker Phil Dowling, converted by Daryl Foley.

Dolphin may have had the wind at their back, but Dungannon were determined not to go down without a fight. The sides traded tries, Dolphin’s a 2nd from Dowling and again converted by Foley.

Dolphin led at the break 21-10, the third try from centre Craig O’Connell.

On the 50th minute, the Dolphin supporters settled a bit when Ryan Foley crossed for a well worked 4th try-  Bonus Point  tick.

Dungannon were not done, and 5 mins later the gap was narrowed to 26-17, time for the captain to step up. No better man then John Fitzgerald to power over for the 5th try. 31-17.

Then began the long wait, and it was a long wait. The number of views on the Twitter accounts of Malahide & Belfast Harlequins rocketed. Any app that could indicate a final score in the game was being refreshed, finally near the stand, a Yeesss  shout was heard. Withing a second it had, spread like wildfire and everyone was celebrating.

Saturday week, we are at home to Enniscorthy, a win there would see Dolphin playing the winners of Galwegian’s and Bruff the following week
