Dolphin were one of just four sides to enter the competition, they were the underdogs, never even reaching the final before, the other three sides had won the trophy on the previous 28 occasions.
In March Dolphin were defeated 3-0 by UCC in the Charity Cup Final, but they got their revenge three weeks later when they defeated the students, again by 3-0 in the Munster Senior Cup semi-final.
09.04.1921 Dolphin defeated Cork Constitution by 5-0 to win the Munster Senior Cup for the first time.
