We were saddened to learn of the passing of a former member Eddie Campion. Eddie would have been known up and down the country for his involvement with Dolphin, Dolphin Swimming Club that is.

Along with his great friend, Declan Desmond, he kept up the tradition of membership of both Dolphin RFC & Dolphin SC. For many years Eddie and Declan were regulars at the AIL pre match lunches.

Both Eddie & Declan were both former Presidents of Swim Ireland.

Eddie was a former Head Coach of  Dolphin SC and recently President, he was inducted to Swim Ireland Hall of Fame in 2017.

His swimming career was curtailed in the early 1950s when he contracted TB but he didn’t allow that to limit his involvement. “I always had an ambition to be an alickadoo” he said. He was time-keeper or starter on the Lee swim for almost half a century

His wife Rita passed away two years ago, was one of Cork’s best known swimming teachers for many years and their daughter Eileen is now a Swim Ireland tutor.

His son Billy was an underage coach in Dolphin RFC for a while and is still a good supporter of the club.

We would like to express our sincere condolences to his children, Eileen, Miriam, Claire, Patricia and Billy.

May Eddie Rest in Peace
