Dolphin started strongly, assisted by a strong wind and were unlucky not to register an early score, being held up over the line twice in the opening 6 or 7 minutes.

Once Galwegians settled into the game, they showed how dangerous they could be and they opened the scoring with a converted try.

Timmy Phelan showed his illusive running skills and reduced the deficit to 5-7 after 13 minutes, however two straight forward penalties gave the visitors a 5-13 half time lead.

With the wind at their backs, it was once again the visitors who scored two more tries and at 5-25, people thought Dolphin could not come back.

Dolphin through replacement prop Dave Byrne, scored a try which was converted by Daryl Foley.

Further pressure resulted in another held up over the line call by the referee and wing Darragh Buckley went agonizingly close, being adjudged to have gone into touch.

A further lifeline was given to Dolphin when replacement No 8, Craig O’Herlihy crashed over under the posts and the once again Daryl Foley added the extras  19-25

There was still time, however despite their best efforts Dolphin could not cross the line again and their stay in Division 2B was over.
