Following the comprehensive Senior victory, the J1’s took to the field 30 mins later against the same opposition.

Midleton were first to visit an opponents 22 and came away with a penalty goal after 5 mins.

From a scrum outside the 22, Sam Boyle standing at 10, did a wrap around followed by a dummy and put the head down to get the opening unconverted try.

In the 18th minute Midleton went back ahead 5-6 with a further penalty.

From the restart Dolphin forced Midleton into touch, a quick throw in and the ball went through 6 pairs of hands before Luke Moloney scored a try in the corner. Alex Molloy kicked a great conversion to bring the score to 12-6.

Midleton put a lot of pressure on the Dolphin line, 2 lineouts on the 5m, followed by a 5m scrum before they finally crossed for a converted try 12-13.

Midleton once again struggled with the kick off and Dolphin were awarded a scrum. Dolphin centres ran strongly and put Alex Molloy over for the lead to change hands once again. 17-13.

Midleton once again found touch close to the 5m from a penalty, a Dolphin hand knocked it on in the lineout but the referee waived off claims for a Midleton knock on as they scored in the 32 minute to go 17-20 ahead.

There was no score for the next 40 mins, until Sam Boyle stepped into intercept a pass outside his own 22, the Midleton defense were tracking him down so he had to run away from the posts to get the winning try. Andrew Dorgan was unlucky with the conversion attempt as it came back off the right upright. Dolphin held on to win 22-20.
