With most eyes on Ireland U20’s at Musgrave Park, Dolphin were doing battle with UCC at the Mardyke. While Dolphin did make the initial attack in the game it was the home side that had the territorial advantage in the first quarter. They had a series of scrum penalties, however, the Dolphin pack got their act together and won a penalty to relieve the pressure.
The only score of the first half was from prop Luke Jordan in the final play of the half, the referee had his arm up earlier for a try but to rule it a knock on.
Dolphin will be disappointed to lose two players to the sin bin within two minutes, while the decisions were correct, there were mitigating factors. UCC took advantage and scored two tries to lead 12-5, however once the lads returned it was Dolphin who finished the stronger. Eoin Hodkinson scored a try but could not add the conversion. Then it came to the final play, who better to have but Aidan Foley who scored near the posts for Ronan Devine to convert.
They have just one league game left, at home to Highfield in two weeks, having won their last three games it is a must win game to have any chance to finish in the top four.
