Rain and strong wind were not the ideal conditions for the Friday Night Lights, local derby versus Highfield. The visitors with the wind at their backs started off well but the Dolphin defence stood strong.

Dolphin took the opportunity to take the lead with an excellent penalty into the wind from Daryl Foley.

There were quite a few penalties awarded in the opening half and many for high tackles, finally the referee gave a final warning to both sides, Alan O’Sullivan was the unlucky player to be next to fall foul of the referee, it was a hard challenge but the player was falling at the contact and O’Sullivan spent the last 10 mins of the opening half in the bin.

Highfield used the space on the wing to get their opening try and lead 3-5 at the break.

Another penalty from Daryl Foley put Dolphin 6-5 ahead, a lead they held on to until 17 minutes from the end. Highfield retook the lead with a 2nd try. Dolphin were holding on to the bonus point, however the level of tackles made in the opening half took its toll.Highfield scored two further tries in the last few minutes to give them a bonus point victory.

Next weekend Dolphin (29) travel to Old Crescent on Saturday while the two other sides in danger of the player off spot Nenagh (23) annd Blackrock (21) play on Friday night.
