Malahide became Dolphin’s 54th AIL opponents on Saturday when the sides met at Estuary Road.

The home side played into the wind in the opening half and were rewarded with an early unconverted try. Dolphin soon equalised through winger Alex Pope.

Malahide were awarded a kickable penalty and choose to go for the posts and went in front again 8-5. The final score of the first half was another unconverted try for Malahide who led 13-5 at the break.

Dolphin did not fold when they fell further behind to another try, 18-5. They actually upped the tempo and Cam O’Shaughnessy scored a deserved try   18-10.

Dolphin continued putting on the pressure and Craig O’Connell, pictured above was unstoppable from a couple of metres out and Daryl Foley added the extras.  18 – 17.

Malahide scored a bonus point try and they also made their first conversion. 25-17.

Dolphin went back up and Craig O’Connell crossed the line for his 2nd try and the first bonus point of the season, and Daryl Foley added the conversion. 25-24.

More exciting minutes followed, who ever scored next would line, but it was the North Dublin side who managed the try, the conversion came back off the upright and the game finished 30-24 to Malahide.
