With seven teams in Munster Conference 2, there will be a team having a bye every week, on this Saturday, 10th October, Dolphin will be that team.

How has the 10th October gone for Dolphin over the past 30 years, very  well, two wins out of two on that date.

Dolphin’s first ever AIL game was away to Blackrock College, the home side were confident of victory but Dolphin won by the narrowest of margins, 12-11, thanks to two penalties and two drop goals from Mick Kiernan.

Blackrock College travelled to Cork on 10.10.92 seeking revenge, but it was the home side, again in the first game of the season that took the four points. Clonakilty and Cork footballer Eoin O’Mahony scored a try and two penalties while Declan Kidney added a drop goal in a 14-08 victory.

Fast forward to 10.10.2009, fresh from an opening day victory over Cork Constitution, Dolphin continued with a 27-19 victory over Clontarf. Barry O’Mahony scored a try, as did Barry Keeshan who also added 17 points with the boot. Making his Dolphin debut that day was New Zealander, Nick Williams
