Strong winds provided a strong half for each side as Dolphin held on taste victory for the first time this season.

Clonmel started the stronger of the two sides but Dolphin settled with some very strong defensive work before pulling ahead. As they started to build up possession Alex Molloy ran a strong line on the edge of the pod to break through the Clonmel line at the 10-metre line and ran it under the post with an easy conversion for Daryl Foley

Dolphin pushed on and kept attacking just fell short with a grubber to the corner before a lovely run from Timmy Phelan put them in behind the defensive line, leaving acres pf space wide for Molloy to pass to Brian O’ Mahony to run over in the corner and touch down toward the post yet again.

No sooner had the previous score been confirmed we got in again thanks to some lovely team play and support lines, with Adam McAuliffe getting on the end of a chain of passes to become the second player to score his debut try for the club. (0-21)

Clonmel were handed an avenue back into the game midway through the half as Kevin Allen was yellow carded for a high tackle, but Dolphin would be the only ones to score in the bin period with Daryl Foley scoring a penalty to further extend their lead.

Some errors in defense allowed Clonmel to go over in the corner before Dolphin’s second yellow of the day after David Jennings unfortunately was called by the assistant for a seatbelt tackle.

Dolphin ended the half the stronger with Foley adding a further penalty to make it 7-27 at the break.

Clonmel started the second half stronger with the wind on their backs, driving over from a 5m  lineout and then countering to score two quick tries to bring it to a 6-point game.

Dolphin found their footing in the second half and built some pressure of their own with some sustained pressure in the Clonmel 22 ending up with a Clonmel man in the bin followed by Craig O’ Connell barreling over from 5m out.

A second yellow card for Kevin Allen left Dolphin down to 14 but their spurred each other on in the closing stages, and one final yellow left Dolphin down to 13 for the end but they looked more like scoring then loosing. At the end Andrew Dorgan kicked it out with Dolphin happy with a 4 try victory.

Todays game brought many more firsts, with Alex Molloy and Adam McAuliffe scoring their first points for the club, and Jack Fox coming of the bench to make his debut
